Contesting Campus Watch (2004)

After World War II, the US government realized that the lack of foreign relations and foreign languages departments in US schools was hindering communication and specialists in those fields would be very valuable in wartime, so it implemented programs in colleges and universities nationwide, providing funding and support. However, following 9/11, an organization calling themselves “Campus Watch” took it upon themselves to weed out and monitor all programs and professors that they deemed pro-Arab and thereby anti-American.
