Lebanon derives its uniqueness from being the great melting pot of the Middle East, housing citizens of a wide variety of religions–but this diversity has led to a history of clashes between sects and religious warfare. As the demographics shifted and Palestinian refugees fled north, Lebanon became increasingly unstable, forcing many Lebanese to question their identities.
